right now. When I was in Belize and now here in Paraguay...I do this.

I have never had anything fried but my neighbors have. In Belmopan lightning hit across the street from my compound and fried almost every TV on our compound thru the coax. We had lightning protection built into the houses thru the power. TVs in Belize were two to three times as expensive as the states.

Here in Asuncion it has happened to a few people over my three years here.

In the US I have seen it done since my Grandparents died in the mid 80's. They were not well off and I know their house's grounding and electrical system was not good (I didn't know then...but I can it looking back).
